Mines defeats Fort Collins 17-5 at Fort Collins PDF Print E-mail

This week's game saw Colorado School of Mines Rugby come out firing in the first ten minutes. The team really smashed the opposition off the ball. Within 15 minutes of the game the score was 17-0. Unfortunately, for Mines Rugby, that's when things started to slow down. Fitness seemed to be an issue.

By half time, the score was 17-5 Mines. In the second half Fort Collins started to turn up the heat as Mines Rugby started to slow down. Fort Collins started reading the somewhat predictable play of Mines Rugby and were able to shut down Mines offense. However, the defense of Mines Rugby was inspirational. Despite relentless attacks and drives by the stronger Fort Collins, Mines Rugby showed true class in defense and tackling. Without a doubt the most impressive part of the second half was the defense displayed by Mines. The score in the second half was 0-0.

With the final score 17-5 at fulltime to Mines, Mines Rugby now has a 'for and against' scoring record of 57-5. Keep up the good defense Mines.
